Jennings Mechanical is a well-established, full-service mechanical contracting company specializing in plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems across South Carolina. We are actively hiring a Plumbing Estimator with proven experience in commercial plumbing estimating, construction cost analysis, and project bidding to support our Charleston team.
Job Summary:
As a Plumbing Estimator, you’ll be responsible for producing accurate and competitive plumbing cost estimates for commercial construction projects, analyzing blueprints, reviewing project specifications, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and working closely with project managers, engineers, and the pre-construction team to ensure successful project delivery. This full-time position is ideal for a detail-driven professional with a strong background in mechanical estimating and a passion for building efficient systems.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Analyze construction drawings, plans, and specifications to prepare detailed plumbing estimates
Conduct site visits and assess project requirements, conditions, and potential challenges
Collaborate with the design-build team, project management, and subcontractors to define scope of work
Solicit, review, and compare quotes from suppliers, vendors, and trades
Calculate material takeoffs, labor costs, equipment costs, and overhead
Use estimating software (such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or Trimble) and Microsoft Excel to compile bids
Maintain accurate and up-to-date cost databases to reflect current market rates and material pricing
Assist with value engineering, bid submissions, budgeting, and forecasting
Support preconstruction planning, design review, and contract negotiation as needed
Qualifications:
Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Plumbing Estimator, Mechanical Estimator, or Construction Estimator
Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, commercial plumbing systems, and installation best practices
Proficient in construction estimating software, Excel, Word, and Outlook
Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and specs
Excellent time management, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple estimates, deadlines, and bid packages simultaneously
